This paper discusses the medical/radiology screenings available to detect cancer. The trend today is to order cancer screening tests, based on age or on risks factors, but a recent report made by the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center says that these tests may not be the best for seniors or elderly persons (American Medical Association). Age, according to the report, is one of the most important factors to consider in ordering such tests. A patient with other illnesses and has only a life expectancy of five years will not benefit from a breast cancer screen test, for example, because patients do not benefit from screening for at least five years (AMA). They can suffer unnecessarily from discovering early cancer and undergoing surgery or another invasive treatments.

54 Toddlers' Nutrition.
This is a research paper on toddlers' nutrition with a questionnaire. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, barely ? of all toddlers and preschoolers today eat a balanced diet (Schaaf 2002) -- a serious health concern to all, especially to parents. Undersecretary of Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services Shirley Watkins ascribes the situation to the fact that, when these young children stop being breastfed and start receiving baby foods in jars, their regular servings of milk, fruits and vegetables do not replace the nutrients they used to get from breast milk and these jarred baby foods. There, too, is the greater nightmare called (a) failure to thrive (FTT), an alarming condition that develops from organic/genetic or environmental causes, or both. FTT is construed when a child's weight is less than 5% of the norm for his/her age, when she or he is 95% smaller than those of his/her age or weighs 2% less than the rest in his/her age group (Gale 1998). Nutrition is vital for children.

69 Jonathan Edwards.
This paper is a biography of Jonathan Edwards. Early 20th-century scholars and thinkers, like Vernong Parrington, looked down on Edwards as the "Great Anachronism" of his time, still acknowledged him for his "prodigious intellect and promise." In the middle of the century, the great neo-orthodox theological H. Richard Niebuhr pointed to Edwards as a great help to the world's need to understand the calamities of World War II and in recovering its moral bearing. And Perry Miller declared that Edwards was, in fact, a true "modern" - so modern that the present age needs to catch up with him.

80 The Liver And Its Functions.
This paper is written about research showing how various habits and activities can affect a human's heart and liver. The first studies on human DNA dosage and the effect of age were held and evaluated in 1975. These were expanded to include 29 individual human hearts (Strehler) and validated in 1979. A direct link has also been drawn between smoking, heart and liver damage by a team of researchers at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. It is popular knowledge that smoking indirectly causes heart attack by interfering with blood supply. It is also a toxin, which is inhaled into the body and is to be eliminated by the liver.

82 Sexual Risks Of Adolescence.
This paper discusses the sexual risks of adolescence. Early adolescents - boys and girls aged 11 to 14 or 15 - have been described as intensely curious, observant and imitative, manipulative, expressive and generally un-inhibited (St. Anthony, 2002) At this age span, they are more and more conscious of themselves and are increasingly sensitive to expanding stimuli - at home, in school and the environment. It has also been observed that it is during this period that they begin to seek causal and correlative relationships (St. Anthony). These natural qualities open them to a number of risks, such as drinking, smoking, drugs, sex, depression and other mental and psychological disorders.

113 Alcohol.
The topic of this paper is alcohol. How effective has the legal prohibition of alcohol been in controlling crime? A recent Department of Justice Report (US Department of Justice) said that alcohol was a factor in 40% of all violent crimes and accounted for 40.9% of all traffic fatalities in the USA in the last decade. But these figures were 34% and 29%, respectively, lower than those of the previous decade. The Report further stated that arrests conducted for driving under the influence of alcohol correspondingly declined and attributed this to the establishment of the legal and uniform drinking age in the early 1980s. What are the current problems with alcohol today?
