This paper discusses Science Fiction as a sub-genre of fantasy films. Stylistically, some characteristics of science-fiction films are the presence of brave heroes, distant planets, impossible or improbable settings, fantastic places, dark and shadowy villains, futuristic technology, and aliens or "creatures" from outer space. Science-fiction films are prophetic by nature and are often set in the future, which is represented by imaginative visualizations of what the future might be like.

3301 Saint-Exupery's "The Little Prince" as an Example of Children's Fantasy Fiction.
This paper will argue - through an analysis of "The Little Prince" - that fantasy fiction is a vital component of a child's growth toward healthy psychological maturity. It will be seen that Saint-Exupery fulfils this mandate in his work primarily because he never "talks down" to children. The fact that a children's fantasy narrative reflects upon a range of intellectually complex issues - from greed and madness to love and death - while maintaining its appeal for a younger audience attests to its usefulness as an educational tool in the process of children's growth. 4 pgs. 3 f/c. 3b.

3669 Science Fiction, IQ and Race: America's Need for Multicultural Models.
The spurious claims of IQ and racial difference are criticized, mainly for the ways in which research is misinterpreted and used. It is argued that the line of research is irrelevant to the social problems that it has been purported to address. Instead, greater energy should be applied to views of society promoting diversity as a natural state of affairs and as the means to corrective law and policy. 10 pgs. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

4371 Utopia Fiction: Ideas of Culture and Society in "News from Nowhere" and "Walden Two".
Utopian fiction is a genre of writing that proposes an ideal society. In 1918, Morris' News From Nowhere advanced an ideal society that addressed the social problems of capitalism and industrialism, and re-introduced a value to art as the moral ground of culture. Skinner, in 1946, proposed a utopian community that abandoned history and created a social reality based on "cultural engineering," an idea grounded in Skinner's own radical behaviorism. This paper examines the role of the individual in these two novels, and the place of creativity in these utopian societies. 5 pgs. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
