This paper is on the history of the state of Virginia. In early 17th century, a book inspired by Sir Walter Raleigh and written by Richard Hakluyt, entitled "Western Planting," built up great interest in American colonization. Focus of commercial explorations was possible trade with the East India Company for the West. The King of England formed and granted a royal charter to the London Company and the Plymouth Company (Interesting.com) to found a colony. In December 1606, the London Company, led by Captain Christopher Newport, reached a town and named it Jamestown, after the King of England. It was the first permanent settlement in North America, the whole of which was then Virginia. The first settlers in this new land consisted of 12 laborers, a few carpenters, a blacksmith, a mason, a barber and a tailor and 50 other men.

31 Stranger in the Village.
This paper discusses Stranger in the Village. Stranger in the Village is primarily a cry against racial discrimination. Black refers to the American Negroes and white refers to white men, the Americans. These Americans were originally discontented Europeans (Baldwin 1955) who came to the New World - which later became the North American continent - and found the Blacks there. These original settlers believed that they were morally destined to conquer this vast and great Continent and, out of necessity, had to reconcile the fact of Black slavery as part of that moral assumption of superiority, conquest and destiny. It has been more than 300 years since at Jamestown and the Negro has remained a slave, wrestling and fighting for his dignity, identity and freedom from his American master.

45 The Drama.
This paper is written about drama and Hamlet's Character. William Hazlitt largely comments on the contemporariness and universality of Hamlet's character: that although Shakespeare wrote the play more than 500 years ago, we have come to know the character of the tragic Prince quite well. Not only because we read about him in school, but also - and more - because we know his thoughts as we do our own. (Hazlitt 1900) His sayings and speeches are not only real but are as real as our own thoughts when we ponder and despair over our or others' misfortunes and grief. Each of us becomes Hamlet, in Hazlitt's view, whenever we bear the weight of reflection (Hazlitt), when the sun in us is made dim by "envious mists" in our hearts, whenever the world looks nothing better than a "dull blank", when our love is despised, or when sadness sticks to us and makes our mind sink within.

256 "Adapting Public Consultation to Different Political Cultures".
This paper began with the central question: How must public consultation be adapted to fit the very different philosophies and assumptions, which underlie different political cultures? The paper sought to identify the assumptions underlying public consultation and some suggestions and recommendations for the practice of public consultation under different flags. While the field of public consultation, also known as public participation and public involvement, has developed in North America since the 1930s, it is now being used around the globe by the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and similar organizations. In some cases, public consultation is being introduced into countries where democracy is a relatively recent form of governance with no tradition of either the democratic process or of classic liberalism e.g. civil rights. In other cases, public consultation is being required in countries, which are governed by dictatorships.

Like any romantic human relationship, Lopez' relationship with nature, and specifically the people, animals and landscape of the North American Artic, encompasses a wide range of feelings and emotion; including love, admiration, respect and an overwhelming desire to learn about and become a part of the place of which he is so enamored.
