This paper is an autobiography of Yukichi Fukuzawa. Yukichi Fukuzawa was one of the first experts on the West in modern Japan, which evolved in the late 19th century. He was born into samurai families in feudal Japan, which knew no other system than the Bakufu military dictatorship or shogunate. Although his father died when Yukichi was still a small boy, he remembered his father's deep belief in the Confucian doctrine, which stressed honesty, serenity and avoidance of mercantilism or business cunning. That was his father's supposed ideal form of education for his children, because that was what he practiced passionately (Fukuzawa 1980).

35 Evolution Versus Creationism.
This paper gives the viewpoint of evolution versus creationism. Biological evolution or evolutionary biology is genetic change in a population occurring from generation to another (O'Neill 2002). All life forms evolve and continue evolving from earlier species, and these life forms include human beings. Most biological scientists concur that the earliest life forms on earth evolved from chance natural occurrences 3 1/5 to 4 billion years ago. They agree that evidence for evolution comes from fossil records of change, the chemical and structural similarities of related life forms, the recorded genetic changes in living organisms for many generations (O'Neill) and the geographic distribution of these related species. In effect, this Supreme Court ruling could neither prevent public schools from teaching the creation theory nor ban the teaching of the evolution theory. Both subjects are taken off the standard tests of public schools, and the local school board decides what should be taught (youdebate.com).

54 Toddlers' Nutrition.
This is a research paper on toddlers' nutrition with a questionnaire. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, barely ? of all toddlers and preschoolers today eat a balanced diet (Schaaf 2002) -- a serious health concern to all, especially to parents. Undersecretary of Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services Shirley Watkins ascribes the situation to the fact that, when these young children stop being breastfed and start receiving baby foods in jars, their regular servings of milk, fruits and vegetables do not replace the nutrients they used to get from breast milk and these jarred baby foods. There, too, is the greater nightmare called (a) failure to thrive (FTT), an alarming condition that develops from organic/genetic or environmental causes, or both. FTT is construed when a child's weight is less than 5% of the norm for his/her age, when she or he is 95% smaller than those of his/her age or weighs 2% less than the rest in his/her age group (Gale 1998). Nutrition is vital for children.

86 Philosophy and Utopia.
This paper is a mixture of philosophy and Utopia. Portuguese traveler Raphael Hythloday tells Thomas More and Peter Giles about the ideal conditions and institutions of the inhabitants of the island called Utopia in the isthmus, which he boasts are far better than those in England at that time. Hythloday describes this society as based on rational thought, communal property, optimum productivity, no class distinctions, no greed for wealth or money, no poverty, a minimum of crime and immorality. Although the men dominate Utopia and women are politically powerless and without identity, women are considered privileged and enjoy greater advantages in it than those in England.

88 Dispute Resolution.
This paper discusses the importance of dispute resolution in the workplace. This is a virtual workplace dispute that occurred in 1974 in a London-funded population control agency in a Southeast Asian country. The population program at that time was at its height and the continued existence of this agency hinged on the number of acceptors (of family planning methods) it could gather. The main office in London required better performance from the local agency: their number of acceptors was un-impressive in proportion to the population. The managing director looked far and wide for a good information officer and tried a few, but these would leave the agency quickly. None of these made clear what drove them away. Solutions were needed to solve this problem.

91 Air Pollutants.
This paper is on the topic of air pollutants. Air pollution pertains to substances and gases in the air that threaten health and life. Among these are pollutants and irritants, such as nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, and carbon dioxide; particulates, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), toxic substances and some natural substances, like pollen. But most of the pollution comes from the by-products of industrialization - fossil fuel combustion, transportation, transportation, power plant emissions and those from other industrial processes. The burning of fossil fuels to generate electricity alone is the greatest source of air pollution in the USA. These outdoor pollutants can undermine health and cause environmental disturbances, such as acid rain, and are toxic.

95 Evolutionary Models of Antibiotic Resistance.
This paper discusses evolutionary models of antibiotic resistance. Antibiotics are defined as drugs that fight infections (CancerWEB's On-line Medical Dictionary 1998). An infection, in turn, is the invasion and multiplication of harmful microorganisms in the body, whether in one place (localized), temporary, persisting, extensive or systemic, depending on the body's resistance and tolerance. Infection is one of the causes of disease, a condition, which is characterized by identifiable group of signs and symptoms (Lexico Publishing Group, LLC 2003). Antibiotics are effective only against infections caused by bacteria, a class or kind of microorganisms.
