This paper discusses the Supreme Court and its role. Currently, the Supreme Court is composed of nine justices, including eight associate justices and one chief justice. Also called "the Court of Last Resort," the Supreme Court was established in 1790 with six justices. It is the highest federal court in the United States. Each Supreme Court justice is appointed for life by the President of the United States and confirmed by the Senate. The most important function of the Supreme Court is to review decisions by the intermediate appellate courts. These include the United States Courts of Appeal that are divided into 13 separate federal circuits. The Chief Justice appoints each of the associate justices to oversee one or more of the various circuits. The Justices must exercise considerable discretion in deciding which cases to hear, since more than 6,500 civil and criminal cases are filed in the Supreme Court each year from the various state and federal courts. The Supreme Court also has "original jurisdiction" in a very small number of cases arising out of disputes between states or between a state and the federal government.

138 A Summary of "The Architecture Profession."
This paper will summarize the article, "The Architecture Profession." This paper will highlight important points and show the relationship between the Architecture Profession and all other professions. One of the main roles of the architect is to balance the constraints between Clients and Project Workers. The building architect is more visible in this process than is the software architect, partly because their focuses are different. The software architect is focused on building a robust product in terms of the technology in vogue, while the building architect is more directly concerned with aesthetics and conceivably with economics. Building architects are more likely to shape the structure to requirements than are software architects; other considerations, like the domain and solution technology, provide the structural constraints for the software architect.

150 Seven Habits for Life.
This paper is a review and analysis of the book "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People," bye Stephen Covey. This paper will highlight the important points in the book and give this writer's opinion on the seven habits. As the title of the book implies, Covey describes the seven habits of highly effective people and techniques for adopting the seven habits. Covey makes clear that an individual must make a paradigm shift before incorporating these habits into his/her own personal life. A paradigm is essentially the way an individual perceives something. (p. 22) Covey emphasizes that if we want to make a change in our lives, we should probably first focus on our personal attitudes and behaviors. He applies different examples via family, business, and society in general. This book's focal point is on an approach to obtain personal and interpersonal effectiveness. Covey points out that private victories precede public victories. He makes the example that making and keeping promises to ourselves comes before making and keeping promises to others.

158 Child Obesity: Everyone's Problem.
This paper discusses the problem of child obesity. This problem is growing in America. Twenty-five percent of American children and adolescents are obese - double the number who was overweight 30 years ago. Each year, the obesity rate among kids increases by 1%. Teen girls are twice as likely to think they are overweight (44%) and to be trying to lose weight (60%) than teen boys. Ninety-five percent of the people diagnosed with eating disorders are female. Pediatricians and nutritionists agree that rising obesity among young people is closely linked to an increasingly sedentary lifestyle in which TV, video games and computers are fast becoming the leisure activities of choice. Of course, a lack of physical activity is just one side of the weight gain equation. The other is an unbalanced diet that's heavy on high-fat foods.

Training and development consist of planned programs designed to improve performance at the individual, group, and/or organizational level. (1) Often, a distinction is drawn between employee training and development. Broadly speaking, training is conceived of as a learning process whereby people improve their current skills and abilities and/or acquire new skills and knowledge to aid in the achievement of organizational goals.
