158 Child Obesity: Everyone's Problem.
This paper discusses the problem of child obesity. This problem is growing in America. Twenty-five percent of American children and adolescents are obese - double the number who was overweight 30 years ago. Each year, the obesity rate among kids increases by 1%. Teen girls are twice as likely to think they are overweight (44%) and to be trying to lose weight (60%) than teen boys. Ninety-five percent of the people diagnosed with eating disorders are female. Pediatricians and nutritionists agree that rising obesity among young people is closely linked to an increasingly sedentary lifestyle in which TV, videogames and computers are fast becoming the leisure activities of choice. Of course, a lack of physical activity is just one side of the weight gain equation. The other is an unbalanced diet that's heavy on high-fat foods.

169 Computer Hacking: A Crime of Today's World.
This paper is on computer hacking - a crime of today's world. Computer hacking and the crimes that define this type of criminal, make hacking difficult to define. According to Carter (2002), "Computer hacking always involves some degree of infringement on the privacy of others or damage to computer-based property such as files, web pages or software." Computer hacking can range from the placing of pornographic pictures on a website to cracking a code that puts the security of millions of Americans at risk. Sometimes it involves stolen identities; other times it's just the ripping off of DVD movies and other media. Hackers themselves also come in as many forms as their crimes do. Hackers are the criminals of today's technological world. This paper will attempt to illustrate just what a hacker is, what this criminal does, and how the laws need to become steeper in order to stop these types of computer crimes for causing the damage they do.

195 Employee Training And Development.
This paper looks at employee training as a means of improving an organization and making it more cost-effective. This paper illustrates and looks at video conferencing and web-based training via the Internet and Intranet systems. This paper will define the pros and the cons of such training. Training and development consist of planned programs designed to improve performance at the individual, group, and/or organizational level. (1) Often, a distinction is drawn between employee training and development. Broadly speaking, training is conceived of as a learning process whereby people improve their current skills and abilities and/or acquire new skills and knowledge to aid in the achievement of organizational goals. In a more narrow sense, training provides employees with specific, identifiable knowledge and skills for use on their present jobs.

314 Hero Worship: The Good News and The Bad.
The focus of this paper is the sports hero in the American Culture. The days of Americans worshipping athletes like "Joltin' Joe" DiMaggio, and "Broadway" Joe Namath appear to be over, right? Well, not quite. Attendance numbers, television ratings and merchandise sales are at an all-time high in the sports industry. Fantasy sports leagues and home videogames in which fans can manage or even be their favorite players are wildly popular with fans of all ages. And perhaps the most upsetting indication that hero worship is alive and well, is the fact that increasing numbers of young athletes are bypassing college in order to achieve their dream of playing professional sports. In turn, sports heroes themselves are getting younger and younger. In the following pages, I will discuss these disturbing trends more closely, by tracing their roots, examining the present state of affairs, and predicting the future of the sports hero.

423 Sexual Ethics and Morality.
This paper discusses sexual ethics. A person's ethics is the code of conduct that governs their actions. Therefore, their sexual ethics is the code of conduct that governs their actions pertaining to issues of a sexual nature. Sexual morality, like ethics, is also often measured according to a community or general standard. Generally, it is considered highly immoral to use another person for sexual gratification, whether the act is consensual or not. Deception in a sexual arena is also highly immoral. To misrepresent oneself for the purpose of sexual gratification, or personal gain, is in clear violation of most acceptable moral and ethical codes. Coercion is another morally reprehensible tactic sometimes used to achieve sexual gratification.

433 Media and the Culture.
This paper discusses how toxic popular culture can be. School shootings in Littleton, Colorado and San Diego are only the most recent reminders that something is deeply amiss in our media age. Violence and explicit sexual content in television, films, music, and videogames have escalated sharply in recent years. Children of all ages are now being exposed to a barrage of images and words that threaten not only to rob them of normal childhood innocence, but also to distort their view of reality and even undermine their character growth. . So the question becomes, isn't Hollywood merely providing a product for which there is great public demand? Isn't the consumer at least partly to blame for the problem? Lest anyone forget that Hollywood is, after all, a business community based on dollars and cents, and like any business caters its product to public demand.
