This paper is an autobiography of Yukichi Fukuzawa. Yukichi Fukuzawa was one of the first experts on the West in modern Japan, which evolved in the late 19th century. He was born into samurai families in feudal Japan, which knew no other system than the Bakufu military dictatorship or shogunate. Although his father died when Yukichi was still a small boy, he remembered his father's deep belief in the Confucian doctrine, which stressed honesty, serenity and avoidance of mercantilism or business cunning. That was his father's supposed ideal form of education for his children, because that was what he practiced passionately (Fukuzawa 1980).

20 Argentina.
This paper is written about Argentina and its economic problems. The "dollarizing" of Argentina's economy was the product of the genius of Domingo Cavallo, finance minister of former President Carlos Saul Menem, under a Convertibility Plan aimed at putting the country's chillingly soaring inflation in the late 80s to a sudden stop (Mark Falcoff) and then saving and re-ordering the economy as a whole. No more Argentinean money to be printed than there was dollars in circulation - a radical measure, which worked. But it also created more trouble by raising prices above those of the United States and resulted in slow capital inflows and high unemployment rate (17% in 1997) and the consequent overthrow of President Menem after 10 years of rule.

63 Case Studies of Organizations Adopting New Technologies.
This paper is on case studies of organizations that adopt new technologies. The demand for technology service is booming. It's a $250 billion marketplace growing at more than 20% a year overall with growth rates in the Internet Services area exceeding 50% each year. (Bartlett, 2001) "Technology no longer just supports business strategy-it drives business strategy." Wireless technology is a business fact. It's the way forward-looking companies around the world are doing business today, and it's the way they will be doing business tomorrow. Global competition means that wireless technology is the way every surviving firm will be doing business tomorrow. Wireless companies need to advance the technology that their customers are looking for. They need to be specific in their choices. My research has shown me that technology is all about the customers and the technology users and less about the companies providing the services.

68 International Business Machines (IBM).
This paper discusses the history of International Business Machines (IBM). International Business Machines (IBM) began long before computers were introduced. It was established in 1890 during the Industrial Revolution as the Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company, which produced punched card data processing equipment (Scripophily.net 1999; The IBM Songbook 2003). There were huge waves of immigration at the time and the US Census Bureau found its traditional methods of population count inadequate, so it conducted a contest for the solution of the problem. A German immigrant and census statistician, Herman Hollerith, won. Hollerith developed a punch card tabulating machine, which used electric current to sense holes on punch cards and to keep a running total of data. Motivated by his success, Hollerith established the Tabulating Machine Company in 1896 (Scripophily).

83 The Awakening By Kate Chopin.
This paper discusses The Awakening by Kate Chopin. The issue of woman's emancipation from her subjection to man derives from her gender role, but it has been more than just a gender issue. Advocates of the feminist movement the world over and at all times have strongly and persistently called attention to the recognition of all the rights of woman as a human being in all aspects of humanity and in all the ways a man's humanity are recognized and revered. A few of the major aspects are frankly brought out in The Awakening by Kate Chopin in a most unusually courageous and precise manner because the novel was written two centuries ago when women did not have the "right" to object, much less act the way Edna Pontellier does or think and write the way Kate Chopin did.

94 Child Abuse In England.
This paper discusses child abuse in England. The bruises on Clara's upper arms are indicative of something serious (HMO 2001) that the health visitor, if she, indeed, has been seeing her for two and a half years, should have noted or anticipated. The account given is so scanty that the general information can hardly be gleaned. The other family members should have been asked or accounted for, even if the health visitor does not know the family very well. The barest family statistics could still have been obtained. Once the information is obtained, then a treatment plan must be made to determine the best methods to keep the child in the home if possible.

102 Mother Courage.
This paper focuses on Mother Courage and Her Children. Nothing tests our mettle better than adversity, and there is no adversity greater and more trying than war. This appears to underlie Bertolt Brecht's Mother Courage and Her Children, which is sharply and precisely set against the Thirty Years' War in certain parts of Sweden in 1624 and thereafter. Mother Courage's valor and grit in nurturing her children and sustaining them by keeping her selling business hefty or surviving have been told and re-told, but the undertones never wear out and continue to reverberate how this brave mother- woman- person's instinct to survive leads her to be more than herself in each stroke of tragedy.
