This paper addresses the role that emotions play in intelligence. Who knew that intelligence is more than just a number on an IQ test. In school, we always believe the smartest students are the most intelligent; the ones that are bound to go further in life and be most successful. But it turns out; emotions have more to do with success than originally thought. Being intelligent is more than just doing well on tests and scoring a high IQ. Consequently, the smartest people, the students with the high grades aren't always the ones that end up being the most successful. What is taught in school isn't all a person needs to succeed in life; there's more to it than that. The role this paper takes is discussing how emotions play a role in intelligence.

77 John Stuart Mill.
This paper is written about John Stuart Mill and his philosophy about individual's rights. John Stuart Mill wrote that the individual's rights and liberties should be recognized and respected by society, with only marginal control. While he acquiesced that the individual must return something for the benefits and protection he receives from society, society's authority should be enforced when the individual violates the law or injures the rights of others. He was emphatic about the individuals' being allowed to extend himself as fully as possible and society's restraining itself in the individuals' assertion of his personal choices. He derived his position on the fallibility of society and that nonconformist way would keep society on its toes to keep progressing and remaining alert.

136 Architecture: The Art of Order.
This paper discusses the meaning of order in relation to architecture. This paper also looks at order in ancient art and the meaning and perception of order. Architecture is a reflection of the combination of spiritual and mortal associations with the physical environment. For this we look at order, we see the order of things is positively influenced by environment and time. In many instances, order is apprehended first of all by the senses. The observer perceives an organized structure in the shapes and colors or sounds facing him. In ancient times, temples housed images of the gods and were decorated with sculpture and paintings. Painting also flourished on vases, which were important articles of trade. Sculpture, inspired by the monumental stone sculpture of Egypt and Mesopotamia, the Greeks began to carve in stone. Freestanding figures share the solidity and frontal stance characteristic of Eastern models, but their forms are more dynamic than those of Egyptian sculpture, as for example the Lady of Auxerre and Torso of Hera.

139 Ancient Art.
The goal of this essay is to illustrate the parallels between the many ancient arts in history. The clear theme among many groups seems to be the interest in human, their actions and their emotions. This paper will illustrate that point. Few undamaged originals of ancient architecture or large sculpture remain, and no many paintings have survived. An abundance of pottery vases, coins, jewelry, and gems have survived, however, and along with Etruscan tomb paintings, these give some indication of the characteristics of ancient art. These treasures are supplemented by literary sources. As we can see through history and artifacts, common themes do exist between the ancient art of Rome, Greek, and Egyptian art. Artists were interested in expressing and representing human beings. With the actions and emotions of human beings always being the centerpiece, the parallels between the arts is clear and this can be seen in vases, and pottery, architecture and literature.

157 The Censorship of Art.
This paper looks at the issue of censorship in art. This paper will identify some of the most recent controversies in the art world and defend the opinion that censorship stilts freedom of expression. This paper will also look at censorship in the areas of art pertaining in public places and on the Internet. Whatever their medium or message and regardless of whether their content is unpopular or upsets some people or is of poor quality, artistic creations are protected by the First and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution. The question of whether it is appropriate for the public to subsidize all, and any, forms of art is legitimate. All art is not great and everyone does not appreciate all art. Great art is not necessarily popular and unpopular at is not necessarily great. In the best of all worlds, perhaps art should not be subsidized. But a life without art is poor. Art by definition is the highest form of expression even if it is not always pretty, or politically, or religiously, correct. Censorship, whether direct or indirect, is not the American way.

161 Ancient Chinese Art.
This paper takes a look at Chinese ancient art, in particular the art and cultures of Longshan and Yangshao. This paper will compare their histories and specifically, the differences in pottery techniques and styles. The Neolithic period began in China about 12,000 BC and lasted until about 2,000 BC. However, good evidence of Neolithic settlements exists from only about 5,000 BC. It is defined by a spread of settled agricultural communities and by farming tools and other items excavated at this time. These included several items used in farming such as a shovel, hoe, knife, sickle and grinding tools. Pottery was also present during this time period and has provided many clues into the culture of the time.

167 Field Artillery in the Civil War.
There were two distinct types of artillery units in the Civil War; Heavy (or Foot) Artillery, and Light (or Field) Artillery. This paper will define these units of artillery and their uses in the Civil War. The Civil War is many times referred to as the first "modern" war, one in which the armies were broken into specialized arms. General Henry H. Hunt, a West Point graduate and career artillery officer, had advocated that Artillery should be a separate arm, like Cavalry, for many years prior to the war. In 1858, he was one of three officers chosen to rewrite the Field Artillery Manual, and defined that the service of batteries assigned to brigades of Infantry or Cavalry was subordinate to the operation of the unit, but that the Artillery Reserve was a distinct arm of battle, commanded by it's superior officer, under the immediate orders of the general commanding.
